Summer Dreams

Some of the things that the kids a loving this summer is their water table, spending time with their cousins and playing inside in the cool! Chase will building tall towers with a "stong base" and work puzzles for hours! Presley shared some of her dreams for the future...she wants to work at the snow cone stand when she is 16, but also wants to be a ballet dancer! So, she has decided that she can entertain her customers at the snow cone stand doing ballet dances on the tables! We are a little concerned about this! She asked "But what if my dreams don't come true?" We told her that we felt confident that she'd be able to work at the snow cone stand, but she wants us to go ahead and talk to the owner about holding her a spot. Wow! What dreams!

Sweet Peas!

I've got a cold and the kids said that they were going to take care of me. Chase brought his doctors kit to check me out and while feeling me leg he said "No fever, no fever." Presley decided to surprise me and they cleaned up the toy room all by themselves without anyone asking them to. Presley had just said earlier that day that "I don't think the playroom has been cleaned up in 100 days!"...she's about right! I was so proud of them!

Swimming Lessons

Prelsey took swimming lessons this past week. I'm so impressed at how much better she has gotten since last year. Last summer, she wouldn't even put her face in the water and this year she is swimming under water. For their reward each day, they got to jump off the diving board and go down the slide. She loved it!

"I'm pretty, momma."

Ella came over to play and the kids got into Presley's play make-up. They said they were going to have a fashion show. Chase came in the kitchen and said "I'm pretty, momma!" (daddy loves these pics!)

Mimi's Lake

We went to the last this past week with Scott's family. The kids call it "Mimi's lake" We stay at Shangri La -which I consider it to be "roughing it"! It's always a lot of fun! The kids love the whole experience!...swimming in the lake, boat rides, tubing, throwing rocks in the lake, etc... My favorite is the homemade pie at the cafe. Chase enjoyed his naptime every day on the boat. Prelsey loved our new ride "Big Mabel". Thanks Mimi for a great weekend!

Snow Cones!

One of our favorite things about summer is the snow cones! Our new favorite snow cone stand is "Eat My Snow" next to the "Eat My Catfish" place on Military. If you haven't tried it yet, they have the best snow! The kids love showing off their colorful tongues after we eat. Chase's favorite so far is the blues clues or blue raspberry and Presley has tried several flavors but loves to add sour to her cup!

10 Years!

Scott and I just celebrated our 10th anniversary! It is really hard to believe that we tied the knot that long ago - although it's very easy to tell when you look at pictures of us (Young and Skinny!) It has been the fastest and the best 10 years of my life! I can't wait to see what the next 10, 20 , 30, etc...years have to hold! To celebrate, we went to Chicago. Neither one of us had ever been there, but we loved it and would love to go back one day! The food was incredible...The Luxe Cafe was our favorite! As you can see that we had to try the deep dish pizza - I don't know how anyone can finish one of those! We went to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs and the Cardinals play. I got a ball at batting practice. We tried to do a little something educational, so we visited the Field Museum. They were having the 10th anniversary of the discovery of Sue the largest T-Rex ever found. It was pretty cool because we got to hear the lady that found her speak. We thought the city was really neat and clean and had lots of beautiful old buildings to look at...and newer ones like the Sears Tower. One thing that shocked us was how many homeless people there were with their kids sitting around. It was so sad and there is no telling how much money we gave out. I walked around crying every night wondering why I didn't bring my leftovers from dinner to these poor kids. Their were also lots of entertaining people on the streets. Their was a silver and a gold guy (head to toe) that danced to Micheal Jackson songs, a one man band, singers and dancers, and several guys playing 5 gallon buckets as drums. One of the pictures was the best little guys we saw. He was unbelievable on his bucket and would challenge anyone. Again, it was a fabulous trip and I can't wait to do it again sometime! Oh...and the best part was the shopping!!! Loved the Magnificent Mile!
